The Elegant Hatchery is owned by Doreen Monahan. I have been in the egging business for 8 years. My eggs have been in exclusive stores and museums in Florida, Utah and California and Nevada. When feasible I have participated in egg signings and demonstrations at stores who carry my eggs.

Each egg is made from my heart and every one individually. The eggs are carved with a high speed air tool, and decorated with Austrian crystals (mainly Swarovski) and gold plated filigrees. An average egg takes about 6 hours to make.  A larger or more ornate egg may take up to a week.

Most of my eggs have scenes inside depicting springtime, Christmas, Easter, a wedding,  fishing, hunting, or just with special figurines. Some figurines are handmade, which makes the egg more desired and unique. Those wanting special eggs, please order several months in advance.  It may take six months before I receive the handmade figures. (But, they are worth it!)

Small eggs; finch, quail, chicken, duck, peacock, and goose  can be made into an ornament (hanging) or self standing on a pedestal. Larger eggs; emu, rhea, and ostrich can only be made on a pedestal stand.

My passion is in designing these eggs.  When you see my work, I think you will see the workmanship, pride, and love, put into each egg.

Display eggs (empty), (See Halloween one in Gallery 1), are great for displaying small figurines like Wee Forest Folk or other figures.  Wee Forest Folk can be found at The Mole Hole in Solvang, and Beary Cute Bears in San Luis Obispo, both in California.  Regular designer eggs are also available in the Solvang Store.
